Underwriting.
Insurance ops · 30-day pilot
Underwriting breaks at the front door. Submissions arrive as emails, PDFs, spreadsheets of values, and loss runs. The critical fields are buried inside all of them. By the time a team has manually rekeyed insured name, revenue, total insured value, and loss history, the best risks have already been quoted by someone faster. The agent turns a messy submission into a decision-ready file before an underwriter ever opens it.
What the agent does
- Unbundles incoming submissions across email and portals: cover letters, SOVs, loss runs, prior policies, broker notes.
- Extracts the fields that drive appetite: insured details, revenue, TIV, locations, loss history, requested coverage.
- Enriches gaps from your internal records and validates the assembled file against your appetite rules.
- Scores each submission against appetite and routes in-appetite risks to the right underwriter, decline-worthy ones to a fast no.
- Pushes the structured submission into your workbench or pricing system, ready to quote.
What the supervisor sees
A submission card with the extracted data next to the source documents, the appetite score with the rules that produced it, and a one-click accept, decline, or refer flow. Underwriters spend their day on judgment and pricing, not on retyping an SOV.
What you avoid
- Losing the best risks to carriers who quote in hours, not weeks.
- Appetite decisions that vary with whoever happened to triage the inbox.
- Underwriting capacity spent on data entry instead of risk selection.
